Hayley Paige Bridal

1 Mar

I have fallen in love with the looks of Hayley Paige bridal. They have the most soft-spoken details and intricate designs that make me want to get married all over again. Between the unique play in lace and the striped fabrics of the skirt, these dresses really stand out from the crowd. Our lovely friends at P. Lawrence carry this line in their boutique and on April 5-7th the Bridal Boutique at Nordstrom will be having a Spring 2013 trunk show which will have tons of beautiful pieces your would not normally be able to try on in the store.

Etsy spotlight: Monogram delight

5 Feb

On these chilly days I love putting on a scarf or pashmina and my personal favorite in my closet are my monogrammed ones that add a touch of personalization to my outfit. (and not to mention go back to my southern roots where EVERYTHING is monogrammed!) So I wanted to share these pretty options for bridesmaids gifts for your ladies in waiting. Make sure to check out the other great items in The Pink Paisley etsy shop!

DIY Hair: Top Knot beauty

10 Dec

Another great tutorial by Martha Stewart Weddings on how to create a perfect Top Knot for any bridal occasion. While I will always advice a professional to work on your hair for the big day, these DIY hair options are great for a party or a bridal luncheon. Enjoy and make sure to do a trial run before the day you want to actually wear your hair in a top knot!

topknot

1. Blow-dry hair straight.

topknot1

2. For a super-sleek look , use a flat iron to smooth out the ends.

topknot2

4. Pull the front piece back along your ear and around the ponytail. Pin it around the elastic.

topknot4

5. Divide the pony into four sections. Twist one section, wrap it around the base, and pin.

topknot5

6. Repeat the process with the remaining three sections until a bun forms.

7. If your hair is layered and spiky pieces pop up here and there, simply pin them into place.

DIY Wedding Hair Chignon

6 Dec

This DIY tutorial from Marth Stewart Weddings is a great way to try new hairstyles for bridal showers, bachelorette parties, or even a low key- not too fussy wedding. Creating a side Chignon looks relatively easy in this tutorial so make sure to practice once before the big day!

chignon

   1. Using a round brush, blow-dry hair smooth and straight, focusing on the top sections.

chignon1

2.Once dry, use a large-barrel curling iron to create waves from the ears down.

chignon2

 3. Build height and volume at the crown by teasing hair gently with a fine-tooth comb.

chignon3

4.Gather hair into a low ponytail. Twist it along the nape of your neck, pinning as you go.

chignon4

5. Once you reach your ear, shape the remaining hair into curls, and pin them back over the twist.

chignon5

6.To add texture, gently curl and scrunch the wispy ends with your fingertips.

chignon7

7. Spritz strands in place
